A proliferation in pointof-sale solutions and vendors complicates the need to protect customer payment information and thereby protect the retailer. According to the Ponemon Institute (2017 Cost of Data Breach Study), the average cost of a data breach is $3.62M. With this in mind, risk tolerance of a single breach should be very low.
