On February 14, 2023, Nedap, the industry leader in RFID solutions, announced the launch of iD POS 2. It is an RFID-based point-of-sale scanner designed to expedite checkouts significantly. In addition, it provides fashion merchants with a real-time inventory view, offers data-driven loss prevention, and supports several omnichannel ideas. The formal release of iD POS 2 will occur at EuroShop 2023 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Nedap built iD POS 2 to empower businesses to provide ideal real-time inventory visibility with zero waste and no losses. In addition, RFID data enables the point-of-sale solution to reduce friction from physical shopping experiences and improve customer service levels safely.
Product Manager at Nedap, Daniël Doorman, said, "By implementing RFID at the point of sale, retailers can unlock new use cases and add additional benefits to current RFID infrastructures." He added, "iD POS 2 marks an item automatically as 'sold' in the RFID database. Combined with an RFID-based EAS system, retailers can eventually move away from hard tags while maintaining the same level of security - or even higher."
