On February 1, 2023, Chowly, a leading restaurant technology company facilitating third-party delivery marketplaces integration with point-of-sale (POS) systems, announced its acquisition of Koala, a guest experience platform that enables established and burgeoning restaurant brands to upgrade their digital ordering experience across app, web and kiosk in order to drive immediate results. The merged entity will represent more than 16,000 restaurant locations on the platform and will integrate over 350,000 orders per day across the United States.
As a result of this combination, tens of thousands of SMB and independent restaurant owners will soon have access to a more sophisticated and comprehensive solution, including advanced data analytics, enterprise-grade online ordering and proven machine-learning recommendation engines for increasing basket sizes. Additionally, sophisticated native iOS applications, open platforms, and multi-platform support, formerly only accessible by larger corporations, are increasingly being made available to individual independent restaurateurs.
Together with Chowly's leadership, the Koala leadership team of Walter Beller-Morales, Melanie Norton, and Brett Spiegel will play a crucial role in merging the two firms' solutions. Koala's CEO, Nat Trienens, will remain temporarily to assist with the merger of the two firms.
