Google Analytics provides impactful data that can help ecommerce merchants. But installed incorrectly, Google Analytics can produce inaccurate reporting. And a faulty analysis of Analytics data can lead to the wrong actions. In this post, I’ll address common mistakes from merchants in installing Google Analytics and analyzing its data. Missing Google Analytics tags, incorrect tags, duplicate tags, or incorrect tag placement can produce misleading or flawed data. Startup Fast raises $20M to streamline e-commerce checkout

Fast, a digital login and checkout company, announced last week that it raised $20 million in Series A funding led by Stripe, with additional participation by Index Ventures and Susa Ventures. The funding will enable the company to introduce Fast Checkout, a one-click purchase product for e-commerce, internationally and to expand its product and engineering teams, the company said in a statement. The company will unveil Fast Checkout, a tool which allows consumers to complete purchases with a single click on any browser, platform or device, "in the coming weeks," per the announcement.

How is coronavirus impacting the retail industry?

Primark is one of the latest retailers to announce the temporary closure of some of its stores, in a bid to help stop the spread of coronavirus. It has closed outlets in Italy, France, Spain, and Austria (where 30% of its revenue is generated), while its UK and Northern Ireland stores at the time of publication at least remain (perhaps controversially) open. Primark is certainly not the only one to take this kind of action. Global retailers including Glossier, Nike, Urban Outfitters, and Patagonia have all indefinitely shut their stores, purely to help prevent further outbreak. In the majority of cases, employees are being paid for lost shifts. At the same time, retailers have also updated working policies to help ease the strain on staff. Starbucks, for example, has announced that it is implementing ‘catastrophe pay’ to US employees, meaning that it will now pay staff for up to 14 days if they have been diagnosed or in close contact with someone who has coronavirus.
